2024-2025 TRYOUT INFORMATION

REGISTRATION & ARRIVAL INFORMATION

Advance registration is required for pre-skate and tryout participants. Please use this link to access the OWHA's Registration System

** Please note, under the Participant Registration tab, you can only choose 2023/24 season. Tryout Packages are available within this season's system, as we have not switched over to the 2024/25 registration system yet. **

Players not registered by April 29th, 2024 at 11:59PM may not be permitted to participate.

1. ALL COLGHA 2023/24 registered players that are planning to attend Lightning PRE-SKATES and/or TRYOUTS must log into their Ramp REGISTRATION account and PURCHASE A TRYOUT PACKAGE for their age division. Please note: Pre-Skates are open to current 2023/24 registered Lightning players ONLY, that have purchased the tryout package.

2. ALL players that currently belong to another OWHA association that are planning to attend Lightning TRYOUTS must log into our Ramp REGISTRATION portal to PURCHASE a Lightning 2024/25 TRYOUT PACKAGE for their age division. Players who were registered with another OWHA association for the 2023-2024 season (or before) will require a valid Permission to Skate form issued by the current or last association.  

PERMISSION TO SKATE FORM

For further information regarding player movement, tampering and tryout policies, please visit our WEBSITE. In order to participate you must complete the tryout registration and you are required to present a permission to skate form signed by your previous organization before you will be permitted on the ice. HARD COPIES ONLY will be accepted. Please note: Lightning Pre-Skates are not available for players currently registered with other OWHA Associations. 

3. Players who have previously played with an Ontario Minor Hockey Association team and are planning to attend Lightning TRYOUTS must log into our Ramp REGISTRATION portal to PURCHASE a Lightning 2024/25 TRYOUT PACKAGE for their age division. No further action is required, as long as they have never been registered with an OWHA association - otherwise a Permission to Skate Form is required. Players or parents will be expected to complete a waiver upon arrival. Please note: Lightning Pre-Skates are not available for players currently registered with Minor Hockey Associations. 

4. TRYOUT jerseys will be assigned to each player at their first TRYOUT and will be kept for all tryout sessions for that team and must not be switched. Tryout jerseys are to be kept at the conclusion of Tryouts. 

GAL-TENDERS

ALL Gal-Tenders are FREE for Pre-Skates and Tryouts, but are still required to register for the TRYOUT Package. Please choose offline payments- cash or e transfer. No Payment is required. 2023-24 Lightning Gal-Tenders that have registered for the tryout package are welcome to attend ALL Pre-Skates. They MUST attend May 13th Goalie Practice and Tryouts for their age division. 

All Gal-Tenders registered with another OWHA Association or Minor Hockey Association will attend the MAY 13th GOALIE PRACTICE for their age division, as well as their appropriate TRYOUT age division. Please note Pre-Skates are not available for Goalies that are currently registered with another OWHA Association or Minor Hockey Association. 

May 13th- 4pm U11 & U13 Goalies, 5pm U15 & U18 Goalies.

TRYOUT FEES & ELIGIBILITY

COLGHA will use a flat-fee registration system for PRE-SKATES and/or TRYOUTS. Pre-Skates are open to current 2023/24 registered Lightning players ONLY, that have purchased the tryout package. Tryouts are open to current Lightning 2023/24 registered Lightning players and any players that currently belong to another OWHA Association or Minor Hockey Association, that have purchased the tryout package.

5. To be selected to one of our U11B, U13B, U15B or U18B/BB competitive teams for the 2024-2025 season, players must register for and participate in the spring tryout process. (Health exceptions for those unable to participate will be considered on a case-by-case basis and MUST be in writing prior to tryouts). 6. If selected to a COLGHA Competitive Team, registration with the COLGHA Lightning will trigger a release from the player’s previous association and the transfer of their membership to COLGHA. Players must ensure that all requirements for release from their previous association are met.

U18 B/BB

COLGHA will host Two U18 Competitive Teams and One U18 Local League Team for the 2024/25 Season based on our projected registration numbers and 2023/24 season standings for all U15 and U18 teams. U18 is a three year division and it is very important to COLGHA that we continue to provide ALL girls the opportunity to play hockey in their own community, at the level in which they will develop and thrive.
